Digestive problems, colitis?

For the last few months I'm getting a lot of pain in my lower right abdomen, bad enough that I've actually needed to visit A&E to rule out appendicitis. I've been prescribed strong painkillers (oxycodone) and also advised to take paracetamol and ibuprofen for the pain, but I'm concerned about the effect taking this amount of medication for a prolonged period of time could have on my body (oxycodone in particular is a narcotic and addictive)

I had a period of severe constipation which was helped by laxatives, but even though I have stopped taking laxatives I'm also getting frequent yellow very soft poop, almost diarrhoea, which often contains undigested food and sometimes I see blood.

I've had blood tests, stool test, X-ray, ultrasound and CT to try and find the cause of the problem, but nothing has showed up.

I'm on a waiting list to see a gastroenterologist, and hopefully find the cause of the problem. My GP thinks it is just IBS, but the blood in my poop concerns me as it isn't a symptom of IBS as far as I know. One of the Drs in A&E suggested it may be colitis, but there is nothing they can do except provide pain relief until I see the gastroenterologist, and I don't know how long that will be.

If anyone does have any advice that would be great, but right now I just need to vent a bit.
