Step away from Dr Google. You will only upset yourself further. Apart from the consistency, are there any other symptoms? mucus that sort of thing? Your doctor is doing the right thing by asking you to provide a sample and then you can go from there. Some women do say that their periods can affect going to the loo. Try not to worry.

My stools were always much, much softer when I had a period. Completely normal, happens to lots of women.

Bit of mucus but nothing much to worry about it. I was starting to worry if I didn't go in the morning so was pushing my self to go resulting in soft thin stools ( perhaps they wernt ready) last 2 days thought I would wait and go when I needed back to nornal shape and size not soft at all. Perhaps it's my anixety as soon as I stop worrying it goes back to normal. no more symptoms that I have noticed xx

Mine are very soft and mucousy around the time of my period, I think lots of women experience this.

Every month I get constipation for a couple of days during the week before my period, then the day/couple of days before I have diarrhoea. It's entirely normal for me and gp says it's caused by hormonal changes. If it's unusual for you though then you're right to get it checked out. Maybe keep a food/stools diary for a couple of months to keep an eye on it?
