Any armchair doctors about?

This is going to be one long grump of a post so apologies in advance! I moved house a month ago and ever since have suffered from pretty much constant feelings of nausea, on and off diarrhoea and occasional vomiting (mostly when I had a bad cough which made me unable to control my stomach completely - nice).

I am definitely not pregnant, just finished my period last week. I suffer for migraines and get nausea quite often with that, but it's more linked to visual disturbance than stomach upset iykwim.

I just don't know what it could be - could it be the change in water? We've gone from a very hard water area to soft water. Also we are now staying with my MIL so she is cooking for us, rather than the food that we would usually eat, nothing out of the ordinary though. The rest of the family are fine, although interestingly both MIL and FIL suffer from IBS.

Is it worth a trip to the doctors? Not sure what they could do, seems very coincidental it started when we moved and it's a long time for a bug or food poisoning to go on for.

Dr Pippi, not qualified in anything whatsoever, says: it doesn't seem like a coincidence, as it started when you moved.
How is your mils kitchen hygiene? Could you try to cook your own food for a while and see if things improve?
I think I would also go and see your GP, it seems odd.

Also not qualified in anything at all here, hence the straw clutching that has been going on. She seems to run a tight ship cleanliness wise, but it's obviously a different regime to what we are used to at home.

Food wise she uses a LOT of butter in her booking which is delicious but richer than normal. Think it'll have to be a trip to the doctor this week!

Could there be something in the house that you are allergic to? A friend had similar problems and found there were some sort of spores making her really ill. Not visible, though so difficult to detect.

It could be fumes from the boiler. I was the only one affected in our family in the weeks when it was preparing to die. Having said that, the change of diet using much more butter could be upsetting your digestion and be responsible for the symptoms. It could be anything really.

My immediate reaction would be to check carbon monoxide levels where you are ASAP.

Thanks again all - more good ideas here. I'll definitely check the carbon monoxide out, we had a detector at our old house but I don't know if they have one here and the boiler is in a cupboard in our bedroom (yikes!).

I went to the doctor yesterday and he gave me some travel sickness pills (phenergan? Promethazine I think) which do seem to have taken the edge off the nausea. He said it could be an ear imbalance too.
