If you do, you may need to change your diet & make sure that your dh/dp is putting anti-fungal cream of his willy.

I do - I just treat it with canestan and get my partner to do the same. It doesn't bother me - does it you?

yes me

all the damn time

I spend half my life shoving canestan where the sun doesn't shine

I'm thinking I might have to start taking drastic dietary action but I don't know where to start

Yes I had it after a bout of antibiotics, thankfully my cousin a pharmacist so didnt have to keep going to checmist to discuss it with them, she said get the 5 or 6 day course of canestan and obv make sure your partner treated too.

They dont cost that much and really do work. HTH

what's the six day course then?

I've taken pessaries three days in a row which zaps it for a couple of weeks

DH can't be to blame sadly

It's a course of pessary's you use for 5 or 6 days (cant remember how long) to blast it out of your system. You use that with thrush cream if needed and it shifted it for me after I spent about £25 on lots of courses on the so called "once" treatment etc. (is Canestan btw)

Why do they always ask at the chemist if you've used the cream recently? They seem to imply that you should see your doctor if you've had it more than once in the last 6 months. Is it an indication of anything more serious?

I used to have this all the time. Canasten did almost nothing, but Diflucan really worked for me. I can highly recommend it, it turned me from a grumpy nightmare, itchy and sore ALL the time, into a normal person again.
I haven't had bad problems for 10 years now though (only 1 small case in this PG), and it's a combination of less stress and less sugar in the diet in the long term.
The reason why they ask you to see the doctor is to make sure that it is thrush, and not something else like a bacterial infection. My doctor did a swab on me.

Omg - this (I imagine this is what it is) is absolutely killing me. It's been bad since the beginning of this pregnancy. I couldn't stand up after sex this weekend! I mentioned it to my GP who is also pregnant (previously told me happily that she was having few symptoms) who told me glibly "oh yes the PH balance changes during pregnancy", and just sort of seemed to think I should put up with it. Because I moaned so much she sent my urine sample off for test. Will this do the same thing as a swab? Can you use Diflucan during pregnancy? What sort of antifungal cream should dp use?

I had it on and off for about 3 years, including during my first pregnancy. The only way I finally got rid of it was a course of Canestan pessaries and cream, Canestan cream for DH, no bubble baths/soap in bath, and using condoms for 6 months.

You have my full sympathy

p.s. I have a book called Overcoming Thrush (I think), which is full of recipe ideas, some of which are actually ok!
