General health

Ds's x-rays were sent to a specialist six weeks ago, but as yet no news. WHY?

Why would it take so long?
The consultant said she'd be in touch as soon as she'd hear anything, but I wish they would at least tell me what stage they are at.
Specialist hasn't had chance to look yet - OR specialist has looked, but is still undecided - OR whatever...
grrrr
shall I be obnoxious and try and chase things up? But if so, how?

Chase them up. It's aslways like this. Took me about 3 months (and chasing) to get a fragile x result back. Ring the consultants secretary.

Contact the consultants secretary, also get the name of the specialist and his/her secretary also and keep ringing.

There is nothing obnoxious about it

Chase. Call the hospital and ask for Mr Whatever's secretary, then find out her name and direct line/extension number. Make a note of anything you can find out about the consultant's general timetable - all helps with chasing later on. Get to know the secretary.

The ones I have dealt with are mostly v nice. I got my obstetrician's secretary a present when DD was born as she had to put up with so many of my phone calls!

I sound like a really creepy stalker don't I

Em - deffo chase. Keep calling - the secretary may get sick of you but then she'll put them to the top of the pile just to get you off her back.
