Changes in the nipple?

Have changed my name as i am a little embarrassed Blush but i know someone on here will be able to give me advice regarding this.

Have noticed a few changes in my left nipple, the bumpy bit (can't remember the name) has a couple of quite large lumps on, and the nipple itself has got a bit crusty (sorry if tmi)and if a wipe there are chunks that come away, as in if i wanted to i could pick chunks out (sorry!) also looks a bit greeny coloured.

I am pregnant atm, but my nipple has been this way for about 6 months and i have stupidily ignored it .

I am a little embarrassed to go the GP, because it is a young male GP, is there anywhere else i could go to get it checked out?

Tia if you have got this far. Smile

Has your gp got a practice nurse? if so book an appointment with her (if it is a her) , you really need to get this checked out.

mine went like that during pg, and for a good while afterwards. I don't think it is anything to be worried about. Maybe you could mention it to your midwife? They can then tell you if you need to have it checked by a GP.

Thanks for the reply Ledodgyherring, Do you think it could just be an infection? My right nipple just looks normal, nothing wrong with that at all.

Do you think it may be worth asking the MW? I am seeing her this afternoon.

the greeny discharge sound like one of your milk ducts has probably become infected. Definately mention it to your mw. dont be embarrased (they have seen a lot worse)

Thanks for the replies everyone, Tbh the reason i have ignored it is because it is so mortifying getting your nipples out for people to inspect lol Blush

I will ask the MW this afternoon.

Thanks again.

Yes it could just be an infection , talk to the mw about it. I know what you mean i've finally faced my fears and have a breast check, a smear and a mole check on Friday can't say i'm looking forward to it though!
