Night sweats

I've got tonsilitis atm and am having the most awful night sweats, last night I had to get up twice to towel down, my bed was soaked.

Phoned GP today who said it could be related to the infection but if it continues I will need to go in for blood tests, now terrified I have cancer or other horrific disease that causes night sweats

Reassurance desperately needed Hmm

No diseases but night sweats are a common symptom of the menopause or perimenopause.
Or some steroid medication can do that too as happened to me, but side effects did wear off after a few months.

If you take your temperature to see if it is risen during the sweating could be useful.
