Where's the no smoking thread? Charlie??

I am trying again. Having hot flushes and feel a bit sick at the moment. Hopefully i will crack it this time, I can't keep giving up. I'm also giving alcohol a miss and I need to wean myself off of coke.

I'm so sick of myself, I need to do something. I feel real self loathing that I'm smoking, having a glass of wine etc etc and then I want a fag because I feel miserable about it all.

Oh no, still no one here, apart from LTH, who doesn't smoke!

Now I feel like giving up, just had a letter from exp's solicitors, trying very hard to remain calm at the moment. :(

I wish you had knew me when I had a dog earred rollup dangling from my lips AT ALL TIMES. And spend every 23rd minute saying to the kids, yeah in a minute, im just going for a fag.
Really, honestly. Or saw me out with my torch at 3am looking for a dry dogend after it had been pissing down all night...
It is doable.
A fag, my dear, will not make your X into prince charming, nor will it do the dishes or put the wshing away, it wont take the solicitors letter away and it wont make your life ANY BETTER.
That once first drag WILL feel good and then 1o minutes later, not only will you want ANOTHER FAG , you will be depressed becasue you have failed again.
No more. Get it in your head, no more fags. You HAVE DONE IT BEFORE.

Thanks Charlie. I'm still fag free at the moment. What with the solicitors letter yesterday and me blubbing all over the HV today, I'm amazed I haven't cracked yet. Still going to bed ridiculously early and that's helping.

I'm now having a discussion with myself, very similar to the one I'm having on here, regarding whether I could just smoke and have a glass of wine at the weekend. Good rickman is saying "don't be so bloody stupid", weak pathetic rickman is saying "just go and buy some".

Yep, my friend got me some lozenges, but they taste foul so I'm managing without at the moment.

I used patches so at least they took the edge off the cravings. Drinking water and sucking minty sweets is meant to help. I just drank loads of tea and coke and ate chocolate!
The first day is the worst and you've got through that.

Hello hello hello, theres no point in ging and having some for the weekend rickman, ok, maybe some wine, or some coke, but not the fags.
Treat yourself to a glass of either at the end of the day.
You wont...hopefully wake up rooting for the wine/coke. But the fags are evil, and you will want one the next day. Its the law of addiction.

Am still fag free for a year and two months now-only have the VERY rare one that I hate the taste of and then don't bother me arse with for another month or two.
Still the BEST thing I have ever done!!

i stopped smoking about 7 weeks ago now (ive lost count, ive forgotten all about 'trying to give up' cos ive now given up )

still waiting to see the benefits (glowing skin, lots of energy, wads of cash) but my patience is better than it was 6 weeks ago

I have only started to get better looking skin after a year and 2 months! Sorry-don't want to put the scuppers on it but it takes a long time for your body to get rid of the shit all those years of smoking has gunked you up with!
7 weeks is a GREAT achievement though!!
