For the third time! First routine screening, second because it wasn't clear enough and now because the lady carrying out test didn't read notes properly and hospital still not happy.
She is (as am I) worried that something untoward is going on. These tests are being done in a mobile screening unit, if they were concerned wouldn't they send her to a breast unit sooner? I don't really know much about mammograms etc but am worried that she is having so many.

are you close to a hospital ? we recall pts back to the hospital if their first image done on a mobile is not clear enough.
if they were calling you back for suspected problem they would also do a probable ultrasound of breast too and mention a biopsy. if none is mentioned in letter and your being called back to the van then don't worry yourselves. Can you ring dept and ask to have them repeated at the hospital? they could check image as soon as its processed that way and no need to call you back again if still issues. I am assuming it is NHS breast screening / mammogram ?

My DD after her mammogram was recalled and went to the breast clinic, where she had another mammogram and then 5 biopsies for a cluster of calcified cells which looked suspicious.
They all turned out benign.

I didn't understand why they gave her yet another mammo, but it was in the clinic with the specialist there.
It was very scary, but we were told 80% are benign, but they want to catch the 20% in these very early stages.

Hope it is the same for your mum. DD had no lump.

just a thought... unless she imaged wrong nork? and had to e done again?
it's not a high dose of radiation if that's concerning you. just hurts for a few seconds while they squeeze them (having had it done I know it hurts!)

Thank you, it is the nhs screening and it's not so much the radiation as the outcome of the tests I'm worried about. We are less than 10 miles from hospital and so I can't understand why she is not going straight there. Hoping it all comes back ok, they have telephoned about the recalls (rather than letter) which is making us worry more..

Honestly, don't worry. If there was something to worry about they wouldn't be doing another mammogram but an ultrasound and a biopsy.

As my DD was sent to the hospital, her's was a clear image and they could see something suspicious.

As your mum is going back to the mobile unit, I don't think they are too worried. The image is obviously still not taken properly and they want to be absolutely certain before referring her to the hospital as may not be necessary.

Hope they get it right this time and it is nothing.

last time i thought the same - that if anything suspicious was found they would send her straight for more tests. really hoping that it just is a case of the image not being clear enough. thanks for the reassurance.

Hi, I have had a recall letter, I have got myself into a real state & rang Breast Screen Nurse, she rang me back in 10 mins & said I have some changes mostly on left side, some overlapping etc but nothing to worry myself about, I am still so worried. I am going on Monday morning - Anyone out there to calm me down???!!
