Has anyone had a mole removed?

I went to the doctor last week as one of my moles has grown quite a lot recently and he us recommending removal. It used to be flush against my skin but now sticks out quite a lot. I have an appointment to get it removed on the 26th.

What will happen? How will he remove it? It us about the size of a large pea now.

I'm trying not to think about it too much, but I'm sure it has grown more since last week and it seems to he sore today. But this could just be because I'm thinking about it. Is the 26th soon enough?

Will they biopsy it do you think?

Any advice or experiences would be helpful. Have tried looking on NHS website etc, but all results are either about removal for cosmetic reasons or about abnormal changes associated with melanoma. Nothing says what the doctor will actually do.

I had a mole removed at GPs surgery. Local anaesthetic injection then cut it out. A week later stitches were removed. All fine. I think they send them off to the lab for biopsy as standard procedure. Good luck Smile

I had a mole removed, it was at the local NHS hospital and he used a local anaesthetic. He cut out a small circle around the mole and then stitched the wound together in a straight line. It was quite small & neat line and healed fine. Takes 20-30 mins. The mole was sent to the lab (standard practice) and the results came back quite quickly showing nothing untoward. HTH.

Thank you so much.

I have a thing about knowing what's going to happen. I can deal with events better if I can picture them happening first.

It depends on what the mole is.
I had a black melanoma, diagnosed by my gyny in Germany.
The specialist gave me an injection of local, waited ten minutes then cut it out and I had a couple of stitches. They were removed 2 weeks later and results were caught just in time < high grade melanoma>

I've had several removed. All fine, none painful - and I'm the biggest coward going.
