ill every half term holiday :(

it's half term and yet again I'm ill :( nothing serious - this time it's a bad cough, last time it was a kidney infection, have previously had tummy bugs and colds

I'm just fed up - all the plans we'd made for half term week impossible as I can't manage more than a couple of hours before needing to rest.

I'm blaming the germy children - I work in a school and have 4 dc at 3 different schools. Germ pool is enormous!

How can I improve my / our immunity so this stops happening?

thanks for any suggestions

No advice but sympathy.

We had 5 weeks of chicken pox during the summer holidays and 2 out of my 3 have a stomach bug at the minute. Should be glad they're not missing school but we're all so bloody bored!

5 weeks of chicken pox sounds miserable :(

I was coughing so much when I went to bed that I was sick slightly. I think lying down made it worse. This time I've got 4 healthy kids all desperate to get out doing stuff and me that's shuffling along behind them!

Ahh well, I expect I'll feel fine Monday, just in time to go back to school!

I am usually ill the first week of every holiday, so that is all of half term! I have a sinus infection. My DC are having a relaxing half term!

We are the same. All I have to do is book a couple of days of (ruinously expensive) activities and the DC's and I to go down like flies - chicken pox, tummy bugs, fever bugs, ear infections, mysterious rashes... This time we have throat infections.

The one time we were germ free, DS1 broke his leg at school the day before half term started!

Seriously though, lots of sympathy. Tummy bugs, chicken pox and sinus infections are the pits Sad

I am a teacher. Happens me every half term too. Currently lying in my sick bed :-(

Also blame germy children and exhaustion, despite OCD handwashing, hand sanitising, daily when i remember vitamins.

I am so fed up!!!!

Me too. I have a sinus infection.... Again. And both of the DCs have been unwell, but at least that means we haven't had to take time off with them!

Tis known as the law of sod.........Angry

I often think it is our body's way of coping, if we are overdoing it the rest of the time.
When our body is finally able to rest,it slumps, iyswim.

You could try dosing everyone with a good quality orange juice daily as you approach the holidays, and see if that works.

Me too!

I have two jobs - am off with half-term with one of them but still (supposed to be) working the other. I have come down with the nastiest chest AND ear infection.

Agree that, certainly in my case, when the body gets the slightest chance to slow down it succumbs to illness.

Yes, I have had a raging sinus and middle ear thing. Felt like the inside of my head was exploding! I was off work sick the Thursday before half term, then if I hadn't had leave, I would have gone in on this Monday- but have been off sick ever since, til today! Now I just get a jolt of head pain if I bend over (and a funny 'taste').

We've had guests, too, which has been a trial...!

Sending my sympathy to any who are unwell,I always feel cheated if I'm ill during the holidays. There are so many viruses around and so many people have fell poorly recently.Christmas is usually thekey time for my family to get sick.

I always spend the first few days of every school holiday with some illness. Perks of teaching!

Another one here. Either me (teacher) or kids are ill in the holidays. Sods law. Ah well, at least its only a 7 week half term this time...
