Hi my ds has impetigo at the moment, and we went to the doctors he has given us some ointment. I just wondered if anyone has had a child with this and apart from hygiene how long do i keep ds off nursery he's four. My mum has not seen us all the while my ds has had impetigo which has been over a week, because she says that she is worried about catching it. Having spoken to the doctor he said adults will not catch this unless they touch the infected person's sores. Yesterday she managed to stand on our doorstep for 30 mins whaooo!! We feel like we have the plague at the moment. :(

highly infectious I'm afraid and you can catch it from towels or anything else that the sores have touched (including little hands!).
