Sore tongue - bumpy and feels burnt

For the last couple of days my tongue has been a bit sore, but I put it down to eating fruit as sometime it gives me a 'burnt feeling' on my tongue.
However last night it became very painful so took a look in the mirror and am baffled. All round the outside edge of my tongue is covered in tiny pink bumps which look like my tongue has a seam. There are some bigger random ones under my tongue by the frenulum. Also towards the back of my tongue and on the side are some bigger lumps which catch on my back teeth every time I swallow making it very uncomfortable to do so.
Does anyone have any idea what this could. I don't think it's ulcers as doesn't look the same.
I am not registered at the doctors and by the time I do and get an appointment it will be almost 2 weeks away

These are miniature tonsils and react to a virus- I had it last weekend and felt quite poorly for a couple of days.

They will go away!

You have the same virus me, my H and a couple fo people at work have had

My tongue was inagony for ages, covered in bumps and little tiny white dots down the sides

I found eating very painful, went to Docs he prescribed this stuff

Difflam oral Rinse Solution whic you can buy over the counter, for inflammed mouth conditions and it really really helped.

But now horrid virus gone, tongue has calmed down. Still feels a bit strange
