have put it off for years but finally now coming round to the idea of getting my (weirdly) just one eye sorted. Have any of you had it done and can you recommend anywhere good. I work in London but probably prefer to have it done at home (North hants)

thanks

I'm in exactly the same position. Someone recommended Optimax - anyone used them? Good/bad experiences?

I'm going for a consultation with Utralase in the beginning of September for one eye, don't think I can have lasik/lasek in my eye as I have high + & astigmatism so it looks like an IOL for me. :(.

Had all the information through and it looks really good though, completely no obligation (allegedly). I'm sure I'll be bombarded to death by them afterwards though.

I had it done at Optical express 2 months ago. The best thing I ever did. Either lasik or lasek. I would thoroughly recommend it and them, the only thing I would say is stand firm and haggle. I persisted and got £400 knocked off.

Ultralase aren't that bad after a consultation - honestly - no hard sell. Although the emails come for years afterwardsWink.

I had mine done with ultralase (Leeds) three weeks ago, I had a v high prescription and it is amazing! I'm so chuffed with the results. I had LASIK. Defo haggle, I went for consultations at ultralase and optical express and haggled between them. Got both eyes for £3k rather than initial £5k quoted!!

Can I ask what your visual acuities were before and after treatment? Mine is 6/12 and I'm interested (if I can have lasik/lasek) to see what your results were.

I was -8.0 and -7.50 with slight astigmatism, though not enough to have needed toric lenses. I had LASIK as LASEK is only for smaller prescriiptions.

At my check up after 1 week I already had 20/20 in one eye, not quite so good in the other but still above driving standard.

In reality though ican see great so not concerned about the numbers. They did tell me that I was more likely to need a second treatment with such a high prescription but hopefully this won't be the case. I have another check up this week.
