so, I fell over on boxing day and have been in agony since. 2 more ribs have "popped" and my back is sooo painful. my arms and shoulders are stiff, I have no grip and I can barely walk.

went to the docs today for more painkillers and he has almost doubled the dosage, and said that there is some muscular and nerve damage from the swelling joints and its unlikely to get better for at least 6 weeks.

shit. Im in so much pain already, and Im really pissed off that there is nothing more than can be done.

I have chronic costochondritis so similar to Teitze's. Have you seen a pain specialist, I have had steroid joint injections twice and they can significantly help some people with costochondritis'tietze's.

ive asked for referral but they keep fobbing me off. we also discussed an injection but according to my gp I can only have a max of 2 because they can do more damage than good Sad how long have you suffered from it?

Hi sorry, I've only just checked back to this.
I have suffered for 2 years now, it was brought on during pregnancy when my son got stuck under my ribs. Yes its true that you can only have 2 lots of the injection but many people find that they only need one to get a good degree of permanant pain relief. I think that you should see a different GP and ask for a pain clinic refferal, they really are the experts and even if you don't have injections they can advise you on pain medication as there are drugs other than typical pain killers that can help. I take Nortryptaline which is an antidepressant but in low doses can help with pain, this does help me a little.

You have my sympathy, do you have a young child/children to take care of as well? I have a 2 year old, it's not quite as difficult to take care of him now he is walking but until then with all the lifting it was a nightmare.
Please don't take no for an answer, see a different GP, if its an option at all for you see a pain specialist privately.
Feel free to message me etc if I can help
Sarah
