Athlete's foot - how itchy is it?

Just wondering like

I have problem skin. It doesn't like being made warm then cold especially if I've been hot enough to be sweaty.

Obviously the recent weather has been a nightmare for me. Hot sweaty train and bus then cold walking around, then airconditioned office.

The skin on my feet is so unbelievably itchy, even the kids are starting to hide any sharp implements so I can't scratch it. The rest of my skin is bad but the worst part is my feet atm.

But what does Athlete's foot feel like? Would I know it if I had in versus normal skin problems? and is it intensely itchy?

Very itchy. Esp between toes. Skin can peel off leaving raw and cheesy smelling sore patches (yuk). I'd ask your pharmacist for advice if you don't fancy waving your foot in front of your GP.

Is difficult for me as I get v severe outbreaks of a skin condition so I've been assuming it's this condition when I suddenly thought AH HA, maybe it isn't that....

will drag poor foot to the chemist for evaluation

get some E45 "itchy cream"

I have eczema, also get contact hives but I'm not sure whether it's either. Is v hard for me to tell but steroids aren't working on it so I might as well try something else.

At the moment, if you volunteered to pull off the top layer of skin and leave my flesh exposed I'd be very happy :-).

Thanks auto. I see some people have actually peeled off their top layers of skin on that link lol so maybe that is it. I have just checked and I have some antifungal cream so will put that on and see if it works.

I suspect it is largely eczema but is complicated by this as it was horrid and inflamed anyway so probably got zapped with fungus. Poor feet!

If you do have athletes foot, then please buy yourself some Lamisil cream. It works really well. I had athletes foot for the first time a few years ago, and tried Mycil foot powder etc for ages, and it never got better, I was itching to death and then went to see my GP when I was desperate. He said Mycil is bloody useless, and get myself some Lamisil. Never looked back. If I feel athletes foot coming on now, I just apply the Lamisil and it's gone really quickly.

another possibility could be chilblains, very itchy toes with a burning sensation after coming in from the cold - very painful. Glad I dont get them anymore!

Another vote for chillblains. I haven't had them for years, but they are horrible.
A old wives tale cure is to pee on them.

I thought I had athletes foot last year. Intensely itchy feet red all over and raw (from itching) I tried all sorts of athletes foot creams etc. Turned out I was allergic to my socks of all things. It can be the oddest thing that causes the issue. Chilblains are as itchy as hell too. I used to get them as a child. A natural cure is to dip your toes in your own wee.....

I spoke to the pharmacist and we are trying Lamisil Once first. The stuff is evil! So my feet are out of limits for 24 hours to see if this works!

if it doesn't, I'll be trying the wee in the shower argh!

I had completely forgotten about chilbains. Too much time living abroad!
