Relative has bowel cancer

He had an operation last week to remove his large bowel which is where the cancer was. The operation went well and I visited 3 days after the operation. He was talking well, telling jokes and stories and was really happy to see us.
He looked a bit pale and the dr was having trouble taking blood for a blood test.

We said our goodbyes and left. Shortly after we left, he suffered a heart attacked and is now in intensive care. I just can't believe it, when I heard, it completely took me by surprise. I don't know what to say or think. I really did believe he was out of danger now as he had survived the operation which was my biggest fear.
He has other medical conditions which could be the cause of the complications. I just want him to be okay.

I'm really sorry, this must be awful for you.

It's good he is hanging in there.

Thanks.
He is still in intensive care but his heart is stable and so is his blood pressure. I guess while he is receiving 1:1 care, there is less risk of a cardiac arrest.

How awful, sorry you're going through this, that must have been a shock. Hope he continues to stay stable.

Thanks
He is now out of intensive care and back on the ward. He has even had some food for the first time in a week. The hospital are very pleased with his progress. They just need to run some tests to see if he needs some chemo.

My MIL was diagnosed with this at the start of this year and has been through chemo and a bowel resection. She has a stoma now and can only eat certain foods as they removed most of her bowel. I know that you must be really worried, don't give up hope though. She also had to have chemo and radiotherapy with more chemo after her operation. She's been given the all clear now.

I really do wish you all well. Take each day at a time.

The results have confirmed its terminal and have given him just a few months left to live.
Chemo was an option but not a cure so at the moment, it has been declined. Unfortunately, there is just too much cancer to fight Sad

I'm gutted, the operation was meant to be a success, these results were not expected at all and its really taken us all by surprise.
