Ds installed the newer internet explorere 8 and i think this is what is causing me no end of problems.

For example i am trying to get a quote for car insurance on Tesco, and click 'get quote here', which obviously requires a new window to open, but the page header then says 'not responding' and comes up with the box that says 'interenet explorer has encounted a peoblem and needs to close.

Its like if i come on here and click threads i am on, it would go down, but if i log in first its ok.

I cant have two web pages open at once.

I have disabled my firewall and that makes not one jot of difference.

Driving me mad cos i need sort my car insurance now.

Please can anyone help.

thank youuu

The simplest solution would be to get firefox. It's much stabler and a lot less temperamental.

Is it the firewall do you think then? It made no difference on or off. Never happened before the new Int Exp 8 went on. I'm not very techie I'm afraid!

I have pop ups blocked, and if I take that off, it still wont let it work.

A lot of people have been experiencing problems with IE8. Personally I've not used IE in years, and I doubt the firewall would be causing a browser crash. I still recommend getting firefox.

I second what crapdad says. I never use IE, it's sooo slow compared to Mozilla.

Forget it ever existed and get Mozilla Firefox instead

Yep, Mozilla Firefox all the way.

Firefox here. If it crashes(rarely) you have the option to restore your session so you lose nothing.

Hi, have just uninstalled Internet explorer 8, and guess 7 is back on! Anyway it's working and I have managed now to get a quote for my car insurance and its £100 cheaper - so very pleased!
