i'd like to know this
we once bought a bathroom from a company called hs and now that comes up instead of 'is'
But I suppose it depends on your phone, I might read my instructions

but why why did they think 'hs' is something I'd use more often than is?? Presumably for the same reason you use akk instead of all.

why does it say "wolf" when you are trying to write "woke". How many times do you use wolf in a text?

When I write Ger mine predicts Gerchanovsky, I am trying to type Gerry... I have never heard of gerchanovsky.

Depends on the phone. I hate the predictive text function, but you need to use the options key (different on every blasted phone I have!) to just go to "Ab" (or similar entry) without any "T9" logo (the predictive text junk).

Sorry, without knowing your phone, I've no clue. FWIW, I have Alcatel, Siemens, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Nokia phones, each seems quite different - some allow you to turn it off from being default, others need you to switch to different (non-T9) mode each time.

(Oh, and yes, maybe I am a bit sad having tried so many phones, I do like to have an radio with me when out walking and these are all with FM built in, so "in touch" if needed and no need to carry separate radio.

NB Some are a few years old, and with numbers different people have stored... at one time I planned to kit out my sisters with Virgin mobiles so we could chat at 3p a text, but they're all older than me and only one bothers with using her mobile... she's stuck with the same number for years and I hoped she'd stop being ripped off by leaving her contract - she doesn't need to use it as much since retiring from being head of a junior school.)

Hmmm... just checked the Motorola and it shows "Ab" with a "dictionary" by the side of it - just not anything sensible in their dictionary for what I want to type!

Darn Motorola always starts in T9 mode! At least with my old Nokia 8310 it stays in "non T9" mode all the time. Sony K800i has it in the settings so it can be switched off all the time.

Maybe there's a mobile forum that has tips about disabling predictive text for models of phones you are all using...

mine you just touch the far left hand side button, which is a star incidentally until it changes it and at the wend of options it says 'spell' if it has not come up

Mine is anokia though, they are known for being easy to operate

with some phones you can find the dictionary and then erase words that you don't use any more, eg hs.
My flipping LG doesn't do this though - Roll On End of Contract

With mine I have to start a text and type the word that comes up as AKK and then scroll down to change it. Keep doing it time after time and it gets sorted to the top of the priority list.

Why oh why is "nun" above "mum" in the list though??

I just tried the key on two different Nokia phones - 8310 and 1650 (?) and the goes over to a screen full of symbols to let you choose punctuation...

So it really depends on which Nokia you have, too
