I have a problem with my deleted items box in Windows Mail (running Vista). I regularly empty the deleted items box & when I tried to do this a few weeks back it didn't do it fully & now comes up with an error message saying "an unknown error has occured" & it won't finish deleting whatever was there origninally. Now I have a number count on the box in excess of 23000 mails (yes 23K) but none showing in the box & when I delete an email in my inbox the deleted counter goes up but nothing shows in the box in the way of mails. I have tried on numerous occasions to empty the deleted items box since the orignal problem occured but it still comes up with the error message HELP!!!!

HIya can I just check that what you are experiencing is that: in the deleted items folder there is a count against it for the number of items, but you are not seeing ANY of the emails in the actual deleted items folder? If I have understood it sounds like you might have a view set on your deleted items? to check this, if you have the deleted items folder highlighted choose View>current view, from the toolbar and ensure that 'show all messages' is chosen. If it isn't then please choose this and you should now be able to see the deleted emails, This will allow you to highlight them and delete (maybe a batch at a time)? I encountered the same error a few weeks back with mine, but I could see all the deleted items, it just failed to delete them.
if this isn't what's happening please post up
