Anyone recycled an old iPhone?

Has anyone used a mobile phone recycling website where you send them your old phone and they pay you the cash for whatever it's worth? I took it into the apple store today and was quoted £100 for it but on some of these websites (looking at Music Magpie) it's quoted £195. Is it worth the risk or do you think there's a chance I'll send off my phone and won't hear anything further? Has anyone used a website like this before? Thanks!

I’ve sold on a few things - couple of iPhones, iPod, iPad, DD’s old Samsung. Three transactions in total. I know the second was Mazuma and I think the first was too, they were fine. Unhelpfully I can’t remember who I used last time, but they deemed my iPhone 5 to be in worse condition than I’d declared, and underpaid me. Given the sum total of the damage was a little chipping to the metal, well within the classification I’d selected, I was a bit hacked off. As you’ve been quoted nearly twice as much by an automated process than you have by a person who’s seen the phone, that could happen to you - the next classicarion down might still be more than the Apple quote though!

I doubt there’s much chance of being out and out ripped off by a well known site like Music Magpie.

You could also see if you have a CEX store near you as they usually offer a reasonable price.

I sell my iPhone every year and have never had a problem. Have used Mazuma and Envirofone but there are others and they're all reputable. The only thing to watch is that they quote you a price and then they may drop that price if there are major scratches etc. Has only happened to me once, but if you don't like the new offer they'll just send your item back. Just take photos of all parts of the phone you're sending.
