Desktop - what do I need

My old desktop is dying. I use it for work and use Chrome to view 6-8 image heavy tabs at a time (I flick between them all to then type up something on a separate laptop).

What do I need to look for spec-wise in a new computer please?

Any ideas gratefully received.

I would start by ditching the laptop and getting two screens for the desktop.
Less clutter, one mouse to worry about and easy to cut and paste from web page to document.

This is HPs latest I especially like the SSD as well as HD which will mean virtually instant booting.

Thanks. Great idea about 2 monitors and one mouse.

If you want two monitors attached to a laptop (which then is shut, but on) you need to check that the laptop in question can be set up to show two screens. I figure you do check that somewhere in the settings.

You could also try to switch operative system on your old desktop computer, to give it "new life", if you're just using it for browsing. It depends on in what way it is "dying". I had a desktop computer "die" a couple of times, the first time (ages ago) one day it just threw a black screen and A: > (for those who remember!) and the second time it just went black with a double-beep when you tried to restart. In both cases the hard drives had packed up. The first time I bought a "Dummies" book (those yellow books) on PC usage, and used it to find out how to switch the hard drive and load a new operative system. It's not all that hard, just tiring.

Attaching two screens to a desktop is pretty simple, usually they have an HDMI out port.
