Ds has ipad 4 32gb which is connected to broadband in the house. We started download at about 7pm yesterday, and it hasn't finished yet! Is there a problem, or is it actually this slow?
Fortunately, although he's had the ipad for about a year, he has rarely used it, and isn't bothered that it's out of use for the foreseeable future apparently.....if it was my one, I'd be going nuts!
Anyone know anything about this? It's certainly put me off doing anything to the other two in the family.

Not that long is probably the answer. What kind of speed are you getting from your broadband?

Do you have a computer with itunes that all the ipads sync with? You could download the using itunes and connect the ipads one at a time to upgrade them rather than downloading the update 3 separate times if your connection is slow.

The broadband is fine, we have BT infinity and it's pretty good.....we don't have a PC in the house at all at the moment, and dss and I have separate iTunes accounts. ( if they want to spend all their money on stupid games and apps, that's up to them, but it wasn't going on my account!)
I can't do anything with the ipad at all - it won't even switch off, so not sure how - or if it's even possible - to abort the download?

If it's BT infinity it definitely shouldn't take that long. Have you tried a hard reset? Hold down the home button and the on/off button together and keep holding them till the screen goes black then turns on again with the apple symbol.

I have BT Infinity, it took a few minutes on an iPad Air.

It sounds like your iPad has crashed to be honest, I'd try a hard reset (as described by Naked)

Did the hard reset - which I'd already tried, but possibly didn't keep both buttons pressed for long enough - and it worked this time! Thank you so much Flowers
