Received instructions to do it on line. All went well on first page which stated that if I gave them an e mail and a password I would be notified of a confirmation and when it was going to be sent. I set this up. Pressed next which told me not to do anything until I received email from them. I waited and as I didn't get one I tried going back a page and there was a confirmation page and national insurance no. to be entered. This had been missed somehow. I duly completed everything and pressed next. This time a message came up to say I had been successful and it would be sent I between January and March. Breathed a sigh of relief until I later received an email saying that I needed to continue my application to receive the pass. It gave me a link but each time I try to comply a large message telling me there is an error in the process. Have tried countless times and telephoned as support line who told me the system had gone down that day and to try again a few days later. I keep trying...same thing. I tried going back and redoing it but it won't allow me to as it says that my special number already has an account. There was a form to fill in if you had to do it by post but it says do not send this if you have done it on line! So now don't know what to do and my pass is an absolute lifeline to me. Please any suggestions? Thank you.Confused

Just found out - it has gone through. Eventually a very nice woman sorted it out for me by looking me up to see if it had gone through.

Have to admit (not living in the South East) that I thought you'd been on some copycat site and had been giving personal info to some geeks/ criminals. You are perhaps aware that a number of government sites have had copycat sites made, which charge fees for the dubious privilege service of checking the info and then passing on to the actual website (where one could fill in the details for free / less).

Glad a human sorted it out for you... system problems can be a real pain (after 35 years in IT, I have had a few challenges myself :) )

That is so interesting. Crumbs, going to be really careful. Thank you and hope you have no more problems.

Don't worry, I've not been caught out by the dodgy sites, but there has been quite a bit about them on consumer shows, where people have been fleeced (£1000+ for some site which 'checked' the tax return, where the 'victim' believed that was part payment of their tax liabilities).

Ah, my mistake - challenges for me are more technical, sorting out someone's PC when they have viruses, etc, and websites which seem broken... so IT challenges, not being conned type ones.
