If you have a Mac, what anti virus do you have?

We have just invested in our first iMac and my husband seems to think the software is so good we don't need an anti virus for it. I am more cautious and the idea horrifies me .. so if you have one do you have an antivirus/ identity protection thing? What do you have and how happy are you with it?

We've had norton 360 for forever and it has never failed us, or are we just lucky?

You can of course get Antivirus for the Mac. And there are malware out there which attack Mac's.

But in comparison to PC's, such attacks are very few & far between. To the point where most mac owners rightly or wrongly don't bother installing Antivirus.

Certainly I've had my mac now for two years and to date have never felt the need to.

If you really really want to though, you can try Sophos

I have owned Macs since 1995 and have never had an antivirus software on any of them.

Another long term mac user here (dabbled with the clam shells ..anyone remember them?) and now a 3 mac household. No antivirus..no plans to have any,

Theoretically there are still risks and a couple of viruses for macs. But if you compare that statistically to the hundreds of thousands of viruses and malware out there for Windows... plus macs check with you before you download anything.... you just don't need it !

Thank you ... Just a quick further question, if the virus doesn't get our mac, will it spread it to everyone else's (PC)?

Also what about things like identity protection/theft? Are your passwords etc enough?

I am fully aware how little I do know and therefore an easy customer for norton and the like.
