Is this right/ legit?
Sounds too marvellous to be true when I have upgraded for free...
Has anyone done this?

Yes, I sold a phone to Mazuma for argos vouchers. They offered me £80 cash or £88 argos gift card. No brainer, took the giftcard. Shop around loads of companies will now buy your phone and the prices offered vary. I nearly went with carphone warehouse but Mazuma offered more. But don't delay, the prices go down quickly because people always want newer phones.

Probably get considerably more via private sale, but watch out for scammers if you sell via eBay and accept paypal payment... Best bet is a local sale where buyer pays cash on collection.

That sounds about right. I work in CeX and we pay about the same for the iPhone 4. Worth getting a quote from a few different places. EBay is probably where you'll get most for it, although also the most hassle (postage etc but also potential hassle from buyers)

I was going to do 02 recycle for my old iPhone 3GS a couple of years back. I read the small print and saw that they could wriggle out of paying the full amount if they thought it wasn't in perfect condition. I think I would have had to pay them to get the phone back if they decided to offer me a lower price. I decided not to risk it and took it to Cash Convertors/Cash Generator on the high street. They gave me a very similar price and I got to take the cash immediately. I've offloaded a few bits of old electrical kit there since.

Tis a depressing place though :(

Is there anything you can do with not perfect ones? The home button went on my old iPhone.

We get lots of people coming in to sell their old phone when they upgrade, as the contract has expired it's totally legit. Some people keep the old phone and cash in the new one - again legal as long as they continue to pay the contract out in full.

Yes April a lot of the "recycle" places take them but at a reduced price, or you can sell online for spares & repair.hohome button is a cheap fix for someone who knows the right person so you might get a decent amount for it.
