Internet Explorer 9 browser history

Any idea why I can't see my browser history in IE9? The History tab just shows me a list of documents I've opened but with an IE icon alongside, so they look like web pages. Have I got something set wrong?

TIA

Sorry, don't know, as not upgraded any of my Windows PCs recently and don't remember having IE v9, but 'bumping' in case someone else knows, and will aim to check what happens on MSIE 9 in the next day or two.

If you click on the star in the upper right corner of the IE 9 browser, you will find the tab for history - just like IE 8.

Copied the above after asking the same question in Google...lol, which is always my 1st port of call. Hope this helps

widowerbutok Thanks, yes the tab is there, but web pages aren't being displayed, just Word documents with the IE icon alongside as though they are web pages. I've googled till I'm blue in the face and that's the only answer I can find, but it doesn't explain why I'm not getting the display that I should Sad.

Thanks for trying though, and for letting me know Smile.

Hi SB, just tried it myself and when i clicked on the star, one of the options (windows7) was History. Clicked on it and the web pages I had been on today were listed. Will look again to see if there is an option to not list them. Just a thought, are you InPrivate browsing? whatever that is, but then it would not list the sites. Sorry not much help.

Hi again. I've got the option to look at Today and longer ago. Inside there, there are folders for Computer (where all the Word docs with IE icons are), and BBC web pages. But no others. So it doesn't look as though anything has been switched off as those web pages are registering. I'm not using In Private either. Thanks for looking, I do appreciate it Grin.

Presumably you also have Mumsnet shown.

How about a 5 minute look at a few other web sites (eg www.newsnow.co.uk, www.tvguide.co.uk, www.metacrawler.com) just as a test that the history is reflecting the sites you visit.

Don't worry, the sites are run-of-the-mill (NewsNow finds headlines on 'news' websites and 'blogs', TV Guide is a guide, and MetaCrawler is a search tool that combines output from Yahoo!, Google and some other search site).

Mumsnet doesn't show, only BBC Confused.

I also use Maxthon as some sites won't load in IE, and that shows a full history. Similarly there are some that will only display properly in IE, which is why I use that.

The issue is, I want to know where my ds is googling and I can track it if he's in Maxthon but not if he's in IE.

Will have a look at Metacrawler etc when I can get to the computer (ds is working there atm and I'm on the laptop).

Thanks.
