Back at easter, dd plonked the pips out of a cherry tomato in some soil and said she was going to grow her own tomatoes. Okay I said, keep them watered!
Anyway, we now have 3 tomato plants, the smallest of which is 5ft tall
All of them have tomatoes on them too.
This all grown on our balcony.

Amazing

On your balcony!! She's a fantastic waterer - how old is she? Well done

One of mine has just flopped over for lack of water; the others have just about recovered now...

Hope your dd likes eating tomatoes too

She watered them every night before bed!
She's 8.
Our balcony gets the morning sun only, but is very light. She was so pleased with them we even took them to grandad's for him to look after while we were on holiday, no easy job!
Once they start ripening I think all our friends and neighbours will have to help eat them

Wow that is amazing - well done your DD. She should write to Gardeners World and tell them!

Take some pix, too. That's a great achievement, at 8.

Are you serious? Would you really write to gardener's world? Dd would be so chuffed

She wants to try and grow melons next

Personally, if I had some decent photos, I might send them off to a few gardening mags, esp if you could find some that feature pix of kids' success. Gardeners' World magazine used to have just such a children's section: I expect it still does. Such keen watering, at such a young age, and on a balcony. And from home-harvested seed. You really need to get the best quality photos you can manage though - take lots and choose only the very best. The photo(s) will sell the story. Maybe you could email the photos if you have digital?

And while you're at it, you could bang some off to TV, as long as you don't raise dd's hopes too high.
