flowering rocket

I grew rocket from seeds. stated end of march.initially inside, then on the balcony when it got warmer. i wanter it every day unless it rains. it's never gone crazy like everyone says would - just one lauer of leaves close to the ground. so i let it grow without picking any. now, 3 months down the line it developed really long stems with flowers. i read somewhere that once it flowers that's it, won't be good for eating any more. it might be right cause the bottom leaves have all gone red. and i thought rocket ment to be really easy to grow?! where did i go wrong?

I don't eat mine once it has 'bolted'. It is easy enough to grow but you have to be quick off the mark on eating eat between it being ready and then flowering. You have reminded me I need to eat a load in the next couple of days.

yes I do, in the summer it is really quick to grow in a sunny spot.

Rocket will bolt / flower if it gets a serious dose of sunshine. It prefers spring/ early summer or autumn, as it is not keen on more than 3 hours of sunshine per day.
Mine did exactly the same thing - although I was a bit glad as we had way too much. I've sown some more in a shadier place - not that it matters much at the moment
