What do you reckon the shallowest container could be for spring onions? I'm trying to be creative! I got a mixed bag of seeds to try out 😄
I'm hoping someone will have tried them in a trough...
And will tell me it'll be perfect...

Not much help but I use yogurt pots - even the mini petit filous containers. I just can't see an onion working if it it too shallow (at least not if you're talking about growing it to maturity) because they'll just fall over after they get a few inches high.

Spring onions are fine in a trough, I grew them in 4” of soil in a tray.
Nothing to stop you creating a mini structure to support the leaves.

Inmyivorytower Thank you - 4 inches sounds good- glad to hear a success story before I launch into it Smile
