Snowdrops slow to come up

Things in general in my garden seem to flower much later than expected (if anyone has any thoughts on why please let me know) this time it’s the snowdrops, no flowers and only about 10cm worth of green so far. Bucking the trend tho, I did plant some Iris and Tulips in pots and they’ve come up loads faster than the Snowdrops. Any thoughts? What have I done wrong?

Weird weather, I think. It's been quite mild, some plants are leafing up or blooming earlier than usual but snowdrops a bit tardy - though they're mostly out hereabouts (nw England).

Flowering late in general your garden may be if it's got low light levels or cool for some reason, I suppose.

Maybe you're in a frost hollow? The land rising slightly all around you so cold air comes to a stop where you are?

If you want something early to cheer you up in spring, Cyclamen coum flowers from late December.

Claggy Soil? My bulbs don't really like my heavy clay and show their objection by being late, but the ones on the bank (better draining) and in pots are much earlier.

My snowdrops are out in my north facing garden, but I'm in East Sussex. I didn't clear up all the leaves from last autumn and they have pushed their lovely little heads up through the leaves and really cheer me up and remind me Spring is not far away. I'm surprised the poor things didn't drown in the huge amounts of rain we've had for the last few months.
