What should I do with the buddleia?

We are suffering the consequences of the ‘drought’ and intense heat, all over the garden. I’m not bothered about a lot of it, like the grass, I know they’ll recover eventually. The roses are doing well, as is the lavender and all the trees and shrubs seem to be coping, sort of, but the buddleia is waning! I’ve got about an eight foot expanse along a fence in a south facing garden. All of it has flowered but only half looks healthy. The other half has limp, drooping, yellowing leaves and the flowers are not quite as big and exuberant. I’m assuming this is because of the lack of water though the other half seems fine, that half is probably in more shade though. So, what should I do? I don’t really want to water it because
A. I’m assuming the damage is done for this year at least
B. I live in a part of the country where there is a hose pipe ban under normal circumstances let alone this years conditions and so don’t want to waste water
So, would it help if I cut it right down now?
Or is that likely to finish it off?
I’ve never seen buddleia struggle before!
Thank you

I've been using used washing up bowl water on mine and it's ok. Bit of a faff traipsing in and out the house with it though.

Cut it down now. It'll cope - probably benfit.

You can can come and get ours - we are in the same area. We have the bloody stuff growing too close to our living room window so tomorrow I am getting rid. I had hacked it right back, but that only encouraged it.

Oh, I meant to say I'd suggest not composting anything. It could be diseased.

We’ve got eco loos, showers and dishwasher so don’t use bath or sink water so I’m going to go with Stripey, chop it,down and hope for the best! Thanks all!

Mine is struggling too! All the lower leaves have wilted and died back

It was late flowering (only just started) and the heads have turned brown before they got full colour

So sad as it's normally impressive and well established

Don't know about now but we chop one of ours right back every year and it grows back up again to full height..
