We are suffering the consequences of the ‘drought’ and intense heat, all over the garden. I’m not bothered about a lot of it, like the grass, I know they’ll recover eventually. The roses are doing well, as is the lavender and all the trees and shrubs seem to be coping, sort of, but the buddleia is waning! I’ve got about an eight foot expanse along a fence in a south facing garden. All of it has flowered but only half looks healthy. The other half has limp, drooping, yellowing leaves and the flowers are not quite as big and exuberant. I’m assuming this is because of the lack of water though the other half seems fine, that half is probably in more shade though. So, what should I do? I don’t really want to water it because
A. I’m assuming the damage is done for this year at least
B. I live in a part of the country where there is a hose pipe ban under normal circumstances let alone this years conditions and so don’t want to waste water
So, would it help if I cut it right down now?
Or is that likely to finish it off?
I’ve never seen buddleia struggle before!
