Can I grow an evergreen climber through a wisteria?

I've not even got the wisteria yet but the trellis is up and I'm wondering what to grow up it.

I love wisteria but an evergreen would be more sensible as I would like a plant that screens us from the neighbours.

Is it possible to grow an evergreen clematis (or something else) through a wisteria? Or is this just a crazy pipe dream.

I dont see why not. I've just planted two wisteria and some star jasmine along a fence. They have 5ft between each rootball. Hoping the spread through each other and provide some screening. Just make sure the rootballs have plenty of nutrients and a bit of space to start off. Maybe let the wisteria establish first.

But I'm a pretty rubbish gardener and I don't trust my instincts.

I wouldn't, as in summer wisterias go crazy and will choke anything trying to compete.

Wisteria needs more than trellis to grow up.
It should have sturdy wire attached to vine eyes drilled into the wall. It is a very long lived plant which reaches the proportions of a tree.

If you want to grow something on your trellis, I'd advise clematis.

I was thinking dwarf wisteria (amethyst I think was the one I was looking at). Although that can get pretty big too.

The trellis is on a large wall on a south / west facing wall.
