Had an azalea as a present end April was in beautiful bloom. Potted it in ericaceous soil and watered but it's losing flowers daily and now only one left! Have I done something wrong or is it normal?

My azaleas are almost over now...they don't flower forever - a month isn't bad!

Oh really, that short a time - bugger! I've just bought 2 thinking they'd look great all summer - mine too have no flowers left

They are evergreen though - did I get that right?

Thanks glad I didn't kill them off!

Yes they will come back next year but now where to plant them. Our soil is clay based so don't think they will like that

There's deciduous azaleas and evergreen azaleas. Should say on the label. The japanese azaleas which are small compact shrubs covered in flower are evergreen, and have quite dark leaves.

The deciduous azaleas are in shades of yellow, cream and orange and are quite lanky open shrubs with a delicious fragrance and paler leaves
