Flea like insects in flower bed!

I've just been in the garden forbthe first time in weeks. I was tidying up the flower bed, removing dead leaves etc and noticed lots of tint little jumping insects.

They are small dark brown looking, can't tell exactly as they didn't stay still enough for me to have a proper look! They seem to be able to jump quite high though! On closer inspection there seems to be tons of them.

Can someone please tell me what these might be and if they are harmful to my plants?

They could be springtails if they are very tiny. They are good for your soil.
