How to secure log edging between border and lawn

I've recently bought lots of rolls of log edging but I'm not sure how to actually ensure it's good and secure when in situ! Is it as simple as digging a groove and packing it in or do I need to purchase some pegs to anchor it? Any advice warmly received! TIA.

When we had it, we dug a channel (about a third of the height of the edging) and buried it. We didn't use any extra pegs and it stayed in place until it eventually began to disintegrate.

I'm just about to start digging out loads of log edging which has rotted and disintegrated in parts. It's been there about 7 years and thinking of replacing with concrete edging.

I appreciate that logroll won't last for ever so point taken! We have a 'rustic' garden (take that as rather unruly!!) so wooden edging is more fitting at the moment. Ask me again in 5 years!!
