Liverpool University Vet Med Open Day

Does anyone have any experience of this? DH, DS and I are going to it but as there is a separate campus half an hour away you have to book onto a 3.5 hour tour where they take you by coach. Not a problem, but it is limited to the student and one other person, so either DH or I will be left behind in Liverpool for 3.5 hours and won't get to see any of the facilities. Has anyone been? I'm wondering if there is any flexibility with this on the day.

V little flexibility as the coaches go full. You could drive their and join the tours or may be lucky. We did the 9am tour first and then looked round the city campus and still managed to leave Liverpool
at 4 by train. I do love Liverpool 😁

Is the coach taking them to Leahurst? You could check whether you could join the tour if you transport yourself as the PP mentioned, are you driving down?

Thanks for the replies, never thought about driving there separately and seeing if they'll let the extra person join them there. I might ring and ask as we are driving so it could work if they'll allow it.

Lots of people had driven there when we went in July. The lecture theatre was rammed !

Could one of you attend the leahurst trip and the other attend parent talks on accommodation/student finance etc?

That way you’ll get a lot more achieved in the day

And Liverpool is a fab city to hang around in. I had hours there when DD1 went on a medic taster day. Went to the Cavan, took a ferry across the Mersey and went to a couple of museums. Coiffed in the docks and a walk round the shops and she ended up waiting for me 😁

Stillaitemo Don't really need to go to the accommodation and student finance talks - this is our second time round so did that with DS1 and already know how the finance works. Accommodation information is either online or can be picked up by talking to the students as you visit the flats etc.

mumsneedwine Would be happy being a tourist for a bit but not on my own Smile

Liverpool is really safe, you'd be fine on your own.

Definitely fine on your own. I had never been before DD1 applied for medicine and I fell in love with the place. Was nothing like I expected !!! People are fab, loads of regeneration and never felt safer in my life. Shopping is great even for me who hates it.

Not worried about safety, just get bored on my own!
