well supervising social worker turned up at five past ten, saying opps sorry but reviewing officer didn't come at all so no review taken place.
supervising social worker telsl us he has now left the dept and there is no replacement so we have no worker.
We have two kids long term, been here for 6 years and placements are at serious risk of breakdown, we are struggling to cope on a daily basis and the dept are rubbish.
I told them to reschedule but it would have to be September now as i wasn't prepared to disrupt the school holidays with meetings.
Oh and dh had the morning off work for nothing

We had our review today too, I too was unsure of how to handle it but then decided things can only improve if everybody speaks the truth so let rip. Three hours later and the reviewing officer went off to initiate an internal audit of the whole sorry process. It certainly felt very therapeutic getting it all off my chest. Good luck with yours in September and I seriously hope things improve for you as I know how difficult some placements can be with very little support.

Sorry to hear your experiences. Fostering is a hard enough task without this extra pressure. Have you thought about getting an advocate for the children or escalating your concerns to a manager or service manager level?

If you do not speak up nothing will change except you and the children will miss out on vital services.

Good luck

Just stumbled across this blog, thought it might be of interest to other foster carers as the dreaded annual review approaches! : blueskyfostering.blogspot.co.uk/2015/07/praise-sandwiches-and-coffee.html
