how long should my frozen shepards pie take to thaw?

as i got i out yesterday to eat last night for dinner and it was still solid put it in the fridge with the intention of eating tonight but its still frozen in the middle have now bungged it in the micrwave to defrost but really how long should it take in future?

Leave it out of fridge for about 6-8 hours depends how big the pie is & how warm yr kitchen is.
