DD1 has requested a BUMBLE BEE cake for her B-day. Please help a novice fulfill her desire!

That's it really. I have a standard 9" round cake tin, and a loaf one I think. I can get food colours, chocolate, and any bits a bobs needed.

Just need a plan- or it'll end up Picasso-esque...

maybe you could get a square cake board use your tin to do the body and draw the rest onto the board with icing pens?
Or use liquorice laces for the antennae?

what about something like this You could make the wings out of card instead of chocolate.

have you a flat baking tray with an edge, like you'd use for oven chips?

if you make a big flat cake in that (or two and stack them with jam in between) you can draw a bee outline on A4, cut it out and trim the cake to fit.

Then ice yellow and net or add fabric wings, use squeezy writing icing in a tube for the detail and add liquorice for black stripes and legs

fab pictures and I love the fabric or paper wings (maybe stiff rice paper?)

I'm off to the supermarket this aft to investigate icing pens/ liquorice etc...
