I bought some from Waitrose about 6-8 weeks ago. I paid quite a bit of money for it too and barely used it so i need to use it u.

Can I treat it like honey? I have poured some over the pork chops we are going to have tonight and was going to put a little mustard on the chops too. ( honey and mustard)

Or have I just ruined the chops

thanks

Delish on pancakes too.

And popcorn.

And waffles.

Icecream

Pecan pie.

And just stolen by the spoonful straight from the bottle

Maple syrup rocks. I like making drop scones with a banana mashed into the batter and lots some maple syrup as well - they're great for a weekend breakfast with Greek yoghurt.

Think Nigella has a recipe for maple chicken and ribs on her website, looked delicious.

I didn't think you had to use maple syrup up within a short time- always thought it was like honey or syrup in that respect.

Must pay more attention.

DS2 likes it on waffles and honey.

i don't think it needs to be used up in a hurry. it is sugar after all so surely its own preservative.

an opened bottle once went furry on me so I keep it in the fridge - but it doesn't last long in this house.

Not in ours either meltedmarsbars, DP practically drinks the stuff.

It says on the bottle once opened use within 28 days . it looks fine 6-8 weeks later so i'm gonna use it and hope I don't poison the family!

Thanks ladies. Also your suggestions on what to do with it sound delish I must try them I know what to do with it. I never knew maple syrup was so versatile

Mmmmm maple syrup.

In Quebec (Canada) where they collect the sap to make the syrup, it's traditional every spring to have a sugaring off party (called cabane a sucre in french)/ This is basically a big buffet out in a log cabin in the woods, with the entire meal drenched in maple syrup - from ham & beans to pancakes.

Great fun - here's an account.
