My neighbour has just given me some runner beans - how do I cook them?

I've never cooked fresh beans before. Do I just cut off the top and boil them? Or do I need to slice them into long strips first?

if they're massive you might want to slice, otherwise just top, tail and boil (only for a bit, don't overdo it )
Try a raw one first...
