is it ok to freeze cake mix?

I have foolishly made far too much victoria sponge mix. Is it ok to freeze the wet mix or will I need to cook it first and freeze cakes? It's an equal quantities mix of butter sugar eggs and flour.

Wisdom of mumsnet, help me out please!!

I'd cook and then freeze.

never tried freezing the mix.
