There was a recipe that has passed down my family which we called Mahalabi.
From what I can gather it was just cornflour water and probably suger and rose water.
It was made in a square mould and fully set with the rose water poured over it.
My dad used to slice it with a lentgh of cotton.
I have seen recipes of mahalabi on various websites but none of them quite right.
I suspect our version is probably a poor mans recipe
