How do you make s'mores?

Because of the ridiculous amount of American programmes my children watch, they often ask me if they can have s'mores. I have a vague notion they are something to do with biscuits and melted marshmallows, but can someone tell me how you make them? TIA

ideally you need a barbecue/open fire

put marshmallow on stick heat over flame put some buttons on the cracker and slap the marshmallow between the crackers.

Sounds gorgeous, but what are Graham Crackers? Are you in US, do we have an alternative over in Blighty? And can I stop asking questions?....

There are a couple of ways to make them. The first is the "traditional" and the second is the way WE do it!

For the traditional way, you will need (per s'more) two digestive biscuits, one marshmallow and a chunk of chocolate. You basically toast the marshmallow on your campfire, then sandwich it, together with the piece of chocolate, between the two biscuits.

We found it a bit fiddly to balance the chocolate on a biscuit, and the marshmallow on its stick, plus the other biscuit, so we came up with using chocolate digestives instead of the plain ones.

In the US, they call digestive biscuits "graham crackers".

If you don't have time or space for a fire, you could use a tealight or candle... but not a scented one!

graham crackers are just a sweet crackery/biscuit thing. I honestly can't think of an alternative to what we have here.

Some of the wafers you get for ice cream can be quite sweet - i'm thinking of the triangle shaped ones - can't remember what they are called. There is bound to be some alternative I've just never looked for them here.

My cousin sent DD a smore's kit for her birthday a couple of years ago, it has little tins of gel that you light and a pot that goes over it for melting the chocolate.

She had a camp out birthday that year and the smores were loved by all.

You need songs to go with them, do you know the Yogi bear one?
