6 month old and amount of solids

I am a little unsure as to how much my 6 month old should be eating at lunch time. I have been following the GF method of weaning.

My baby has a very small bottle of 3 floz at lunchtime and then I have been trying to put the baby onto some of the meals suggested but trying to introduce new food slowly i.e. chicken puree, fish puree. Today tried a baby pasta with veg. However, I know that you are meant to try and cut down the amount of milk you give at lunchtime, but my baby hardly touched any of the food until I offered a little more of the formula milk. Has only had 3 floz for lunch and tried to weigh the amount of food I gave and think it was probably about 3-4 oz of food. Is this enough for a baby who has just turned 6 months ?? I am a little unsure as to whether or not I should be trying to give the baby more food or more milk. The baby does have more milk at 2pm ish like GF recommends (normally about 5 floz). Advice please!!

Oh by the way, can't believe the sudden change in weather, one minutes its fine and the next it is blowing like a blizzard with snow everywhere. Strange

the only person who really knows is your baby

by which I mean don't worry about quantity, its all about getting them used to taking food off a spoon and different tastes

your baby will be fine, if hungry you'll know, if full will stop eating. Personally I would offer milk after food, but if he or she only wants milk at a mealtime don't worry too much

GF is all very well, but don't get hung up on having to do exactly her routines

Erm, just try not to get too hung up on what he 'should' be eating/drinking - I got all stressed about that 1st time round (on ds3 now!) and it really doesn't matter too much.

My view is at this stage, as long as he is taking most of his milk and eating some solids he'll be fine. My ds3 is just about 6 months now and doesn't each much solids really, sometimes I give him lunch and sometimes I don't and he doesn't seem to care! He always has 'tea' though.

Just follow his lead - solids at this stage are not that essential - just good to get him used to textures and flavours but he's not going to suffer if he doesn't eat much of it. TBH, at lunchtime I let ds3 have as much milk as he likes, then I give him whatever solids he likes and if he doesn't eat much of it I'm not too bothered.

HTH, not sure if I'm very clear!

sounds totally fine to me. at 6 months most of nutrition will still be from milk, over the next few months your baby will lead the way

don't worry and enjoy it, sounds like you're doing everything right
