how can i get my ds to hold his cup/bottle?

I'm a little worried that my six and a half month old isn't interested in his trainer cup, i've been trying for about a month. I even bought a handle for his bottles, however it looks like he just can't be bothered even to consider holding either. I've read so much that says they should be holding their bottle, or at least trying to. I started weaning him at five months and all is fine there. He does on the odd occassion manage to hold his teething ring in his mouth for a while. Am I being silly? Any ideas on what I could do to encourage him?

Just a thought, but do you fill it right up? It could be too heavy for him.

My dd1 was totally uninterested for AGES; I think dd2 only got interested because she could see DD1 with hers and wanted to swipe it.

Actually, I think both my kids have tended to be behind with their milestones, as set by the books. I've given up worrying, as they seem to get there by the end.

he's very young for this, my 10 month dd is just starting to hold the handles properly. give it another month and see how he goes then. what is he like on finger foods and general hand skills?

he holds his bicky peg in his mouth(probably due to the fact that it's tied to his wrist!) and he's just getting to grips with rattles and toys. He tends to drop everything after about 5 secs. Don't know what I can do to encourage him more

he sounds as though he's doing fine for his age. he'll get there in a few weeks or so.
