The one good thing about it being Autumn is that we can all get back to cooking yummy tummy warming winter casseroles!

I have a cassoulet in the oven for dinner - all that soft beans, melt in the mouth lamb and oozing sausanges with the squidgy sauce to dip crusty bread in

And a roasted humungous marrow to go with it, which we will plonk on the table and then scoop out with our spoons!

And so easy too - 30mins of prep time and then a whole afternoon to while away whilst waiting for it to cook! And of course, there is the left overs from the cooking wine to consume

We had a nice hot chilli several times in July!

I just can't cook casseroles in the summer - no matter how cold it is - it just doesn't seem right

yummy!

We are having a mixed bean chunky soup for dinner tonight.

WE were going to have a sausage roast but had a cinema afternoon all snuggled up in blankets and we stuffed ourselves with doritos and popcorn!

I love Autumn and Winter!

ooh soapbox, I thought this too today .

Cooked a big lamb casserole yesterday with lots of vegetables and ds even said today 'when can we have another' (don't ask about dd who was making gagging faces behind him ).

your crusty bread and soft beans are making me drool!

We have had far more casseroles than salads or barbecues this summer...

Nobody's mentioned the dumplings!

A casserole just isn't the same without them, all doughy and crusty and soaked with gravy (wipes own drool off floor with ds's muslin).

I love stews and casseroles.

Unfortunately dh doesn't eat meat so it's not worth me making casseroles.

(I have yet to see a vegetarian version which makes me want to cook it - although a beany one sounds interesting)

Mercy - bean casseroles are fab! I make loads of vegetarian ones including:

Vegetable chilli

Cheesy beany casserole (which you can add vegetarian sausages to if you want to make a vegy cowboy casserole)

Butter bean and butternut squash casserole

And of course all the slow cook vegy curries.
