Can anyone help? I have just cooked the chicken with grape receipe in the Annabel Karmel cookbook and have just notice you can't freeze it. What am I supposed to do with it all then? Its cooling down as we speak and I wanted to give it to my ds at around 5-ish. Sorry to sound so ignorant but I'm a vegetarian and haven't a clue when it comes to meat. I know there's something about not being able to re-heat chicken?... Many thanks...

you can reheat chicken, but only once. So it will be fine if you take out one portion and reheat it at 5, but if your ds doesn't finish it all you wont be able to reheat that bit again. does that make sense?

it'll keep in the fridge for a day or so I think.

I could be wrong though

why cant you freeze it?
is it made from stuff that has already been frozen?

maybe grapes go funny if you freeze them? What else is in it?

i have never had a problem frezzing meals that had grapes in....
you just need to made sure that its pipping hot when you reheat it and that you dont refreeze any of it.

its got chicken, courgette, grape, water and to thicken it you use baby rice.....so if I put it in the fridge once it has cooled down I can use it again tomorrow?

I find cooked meat is fine in the fridge for a few days, but you do need to reheat it thoroughly when you reheat it.

I don't know why this dish wouldn't freeze. Do be aware you can't freeze meat that was already frozen.

I imagine it says not to freeze because of the rice, not the chicken.

I however would freeze it though.

I dunno if guidelines have changed but when I did my food safety course a few years ago, I was told it was ok to freeze cooked meat, even if it had previously been frozen in it's raw state. Just not to freeze meaet twice without cooking.

Just be sure to defrost thouroughly before heating and then heat until the centre reaches at least 80C.

just to let you know that I gave ds the chicken dish for dinner and he promptly threw up everywhere! So much for homecooking! I get so stressed as I seemed to spend all my life in the kitchen and he hardly ever eats it anyway!
