Pasta leftovers - safe or not?

So I made a pasta yesterday with meat, veg and a tomato sauce. I then put it into a container and left it out (stupidly). However, I put it into the fridge this morning roughly 11/12pm. I then reheated it and took one bite to then throwing the whole thing out with the fear of getting seriously ill like that guy from Germany who ate 5 day old pasta and died.

Just wondering, am I okay?

I've eaten something fresh there and I don't want to get severely sick.

Ty.

My kitchen is quite cold and I've got an iron stomach so I'd probably blast it in the microwave and eat it, but I wouldn't feed it to my kids. If your kitchen is warm then I'd probably chuck.

Not really worth getting ill for the sake of a little bit of pasta, I'm sure you won't get ill from a single mouthful

Usually I’d say you’re fine but I ate some turkey that I thought was fine yesterday and gave myself mild food poisoning, was up all night throwing up and running to the bathroom, and still have pretty bad cramps... so I’m doubting my judgement!

I would of eaten it actually. Surely pasta left out of a fridge is safe...

It wouldn't of crossed my mind to throw it Blush

It was sitting out from 6-12 then put into the fridge.

I was concerned only because I have eaten afterwards and would that not increase growth of any bacteria's present ?

If you only took a tiny bite I'm sure you'll be fine especially if it's been a few hours now and no rumbles! You're more likely to make yourself ill with worry I'd say...

Maxelly:

Ate it about 30 minutes ago then had more food. When would you feel any effects of food poisoning if it occurs ?

In my limited experience with food poisoning specifically you feel it pretty quickly, as opposed to viruses which can come on more gradually (and it can be hard to tell which it is!). TMI but I start to feel a bit belchy/rumbly/nauseous/'off' within the hour and progress to full on vomiting ill within the next hour or so after that. So at least you probably won't have long to wait to find out -sorry! Grin.

But as I say I really doubt one bite of pasta which had been at room temp for 12 hours and then re-heated with no off smell will give you food poisoning, unless you are already immuno compromised or particularly delicate of stomach, yes there may have been some bugs in it but between it being chilled down, then heated up plus the natural processes your body has to deal with any ingested bacteria they will almost certainly have been zapped, if you do get ill it would just be bad luck really...

Feeling much better about it still anxious about what will happen but happy enough to wait it out as such. Will know more soon I guess thank you all.
